Climate change on the soil

From organic cotton data to impact: climate resilience and biodiversity

As climate, soil and biodiversity pressures increasingly affect cotton-growing regions, understanding what is happening at farm level is becoming more important, both for strengthening sourcing resilience and demonstrating environmental progress.

In this interactive Learning Lab, we’ll explore how farm-level action and credible primary data can work together to support more resilient cotton production and provide the environmental evidence increasingly needed across the value chain.

sustainable cotton strategy

What we’ll explore

  • Why climate, soil and biodiversity pressures at farm level matter for longer-term sourcing resilience
  • How organic production methods and agricultural practices supported through OCA’s Farm Programme can help strengthen soil health and farming systems
  • Why organic certification is an important foundation, and where credible primary data and indicators come in alongside it
  • What makes farm-level environmental data credible, and what it can and can’t demonstrate
  • How OCA’s farmer-level data from India and Pakistan can support environmental due diligence, reporting expectations and decision-making
