Our Global Strategy for 2030
Scaling organic cotton as a cornerstone of a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable textile sector.

A collective vision for change

At OCA, we believe organic cotton is the catalyst for a truly sustainable textile sector.

We envision a future where, every time a farmer switches to organic cotton, there is a ripple effect of positivity.

Farmers earn more and have access to better working conditions and secure livelihoods. Their land and soils are regenerated, biodiversity thrives, and together we contribute to combating climate change.

We call this the Organic Cotton Effect. As an accelerator, we want to get to this future, faster.

Building on a strong foundation

We scale and develop our work by building on a strong and growing foundation of evidence, collaboration, and impact across the organic cotton value chain.

At OCA, we have brought together a diverse and committed community, from farmers and local partners to brands, suppliers and civil society, to prove that organic cotton can deliver real, lasting change at scale.

Together, we demonstrate that when the right support systems, market commitments, and enabling frameworks are in place, organic cotton works: for farmers, for nature, and for the future of the textile sector.

Key foundations of our work include:

  • A strong, diverse community across the value chain
  • 60+ partners delivering measurable impact
  • Proven benefits of organic cotton for farmers, nature, and the textile sector
  • A growing market share for organic cotton
  • Clear evidence that the right support, commitments, and frameworks drive real change
  • A new and credible voice in the policy arena

Our strategic priorities

Resilient farming communities

We work closely with our Implementing Partners to help farmers build stronger, more resilient farms through practical training, support, and innovation.

This includes developing and sharing training materials, improving access to organic inputs, seeds, tools, and reliable information, and introducing new approaches that make farming systems more effective and inclusive.

Scaling OCA’s Farm Programme

We aim to scale responsibly by expanding our reach, simplifying how the programme works, and keeping farmers at the centre of everything we do.

We are also extending our geographic presence through strategic partnerships and strengthening collaborations with organic chain-of-custody and traceability systems, helping sourcing partners access organic cotton with greater confidence and transparency.

Data to drive change

By turning insights into action, we support adaptive management and continuous improvement across our programmes, enabling us to clearly demonstrate results while strengthening learning throughout our interventions.

Grow an engaged OCA community

A strong and engaged community is essential for lasting change. We are working to grow both the number and diversity of our Contributors and donors, while deepening engagement and strengthening collaboration across our partner network.

Positioning & policy influence

Strong positioning and policy engagement are essential to scaling the impact of organic cotton. We are strengthening OCA’s positioning to increase visibility, relevance, and recognition across the textile sector, ensuring that organic cotton is clearly understood as a key sustainable fibre with proven social and environmental value.

A strategy that benefits all

Our 2030 Strategy creates shared value across the cotton sector:

  • Farmers and farm groups: better income, technical support, and investment in communities
  • Brands and retailers: easier participation at scale, de-risked sourcing backed by data
  • Suppliers and manufacturers: expanded market opportunities and supported integration
  • Civil society and philanthropy: a scalable mechanism with proven delivery
