As Contributors their support and investment will drive our farmer-centric programmes dedicated to improving the livelihoods of organic cotton farmers and farmers that are transitioning to organic agriculture.
The grant will fund a project supporting nearly 50,000 farmers, over three years, with in-conversion programmes, learning and development and pre-payment plans.
2020 brought great uncertainty to the fashion and textile sectors, with disruption on a global level due to the coronavirus pandemic. We are proud that with the support of our Contributors, we made the necessary adaptions to deliver on our commitment to provide a secure market for organic cotton farmers.
In a bid to support farmers in this switch and to drive sustainability in the textile sector, OCA has joined forces with Tchibo, Dibella, Fairtrade Deutschland and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, which is hosting The Partnership for Sustainable Textiles, for a pilot project in India (South Odisha).
