The new resource brings practical, locally tailored guidance to farmers and field teams
Amsterdam/Istanbul, December 3, 2025 – Türkiye’s organic cotton sector takes a step forward today as the Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) launches its Organic Cotton Training Curriculum (OCTC) for Türkiye, a practical, easy-to-use training resource created specifically for Turkish farmers and field teams.
This new curriculum gathers proven good practices in organic cotton farming and adapts them to Türkiye’s soils, climate and growing conditions. For the first time, it also includes a dedicated module on regenerative agriculture, offering farmers clear guidance on rebuilding soil fertility, supporting biodiversity, and strengthening long-term farm resilience.
Alongside agronomy, the curriculum introduces modules on farm management and digital literacy. These support farmers and field staff to improve record-keeping, understand farm economics, plan inputs and crop rotations more effectively, and make better use of digital tools, from basic smartphone applications to farm data platforms, to track performance and inform decision-making.
″Türkiye’s cotton farmers are ready to take the next step, and the OCTC gives them the practical guidance to do so. By tailoring the curriculum to our national agronomic conditions and collaborating closely with local partners, we are ensuring that every field officer and farmer receives relevant, high-quality support. This resource is a cornerstone for strengthening Türkiye’s leadership in organic cotton production. ″
The curriculum was tested with field teams during hands-on workshops in Türkiye’s cotton-growing regions throughout the latest season. It builds on OCA’s proven training model first launched in India (2022) and Pakistan (2023). Across both countries, the OCTC has delivered 25 agronomic training sessions, strengthened the capacity of close to 200 field staff, demonstrating the value of a unified, high-quality training framework for organic and in-conversion farmers.
A timely resource
The launch follows OCA’s formal entrance into Türkiye in 2024, when the organisation established a dedicated local presence to unite stakeholders across the organic cotton value chain. As part of OCA’s wider capacity-building efforts in the country, the OCTC contributes to a long-term vision for a sustainable and transparent organic cotton sector that rewards farmers and safeguards the ecosystems on which they and their communities depend.
Built with and for Türkiye
The Organic Cotton Training Curriculum was developed in collaboration with Ankara-based Prospera Impact and in consultation with Turkish sector partners such as the Ministry of Forestry and Agriculture.
To maximise accessibility, OCA has made the OCTC for Türkiye publicly available in both Turkish and English, along with a Trainer’s Handbook sharing best practices on how to best convey this knowledge. This will support adoption by all stakeholders across the organic cotton sector. The curriculum will be updated regularly based on field feedback and expert insights.
OCA invites organisations working in cotton and sustainable agriculture to integrate the OCTC into their farmer training programmes. The goal is to equip farmers with practical knowledge that helps regenerate soils, improve productivity and build sustainable livelihoods for the future.
