They join our growing base of dedicated organisations united to bring meaningful impact and change to the organic cotton sector.

Soorty Enterprises (PVT) LTD

Soorty is a family of engineers and designers who are passionate about creating denim that makes people look and feel good by imbuing its core values of innovation, design and sustainability. Believing that sustainable denim needs to be manufactured at scale, Soorty is using its comprehensive vertically integrated infrastructure spanning Pakistan, Turkey and Bangladesh to do just that. The company offers LEED certified production in cost-leading countries Pakistan and Bangladesh, a co-creation development facility in the hub of denim innovation Turkey, and design centers in the denim fashion hubs of the world – New York and Amsterdam. The Soorty Organic Cotton Initiative (SOCI) is one of the first private sector projects established to facilitate a shift to a more ecologically and socially responsible cotton agronomy. Almost a thousand farmers from Naal will be transitioning to a safer, organic method of producing cotton through SOCI over the next four years, thereby improving lives and livelihoods in one of the most underserved provinces of Pakistan i.e., Balochistan.

“SOCI goes beyond just cultivating organic cotton. It is about uplifting the farming families of this deprived region through higher income, better schooling and access to professional health services. It’s about transforming the way cotton buying is conducted, by creating a blockchain-based transparent digital marketplace and traceability mechanism. This is our first foray into farming, and we’re excited by the possibilities in front of us.”

– Director at Soorty Enterprises, Asad Soorty.

Esprit

Fuelled by the vision of essential positivity, Esprit was founded in California by couple Susie and Doug Tompkins in 1968. Inspired by the revolutionary spirit of the 60’s, the brand developed a clear philosophy – celebrating authentic people and togetherness, all in line with the brand’s promise: “Feel good to look good.” Today, Esprit’s success story is based on two pillars: the collection provides high quality basics as well as selected fashion pieces. It hereby always stays true to its core values sustainability, diversity, fairness and freedom of choice. Early in the 90’s, long time before eco-fashion became common sense, Esprit launched their first “ecollection” made of 100% organic cotton. Instead of using conventional models, Esprit employees presented the collection, making it a “real people” campaign. Since day one, it is exactly this spirit that counts. Today, Esprit is available in 40 countries across the globe. The Esprit group holds headquarters in Germany and Hong Kong. Since 1993, it is registered at the Hong Kong stock market.
