Responsibilities

Your first responsibility will be to replace OCA’s Financial Administrator during maternity leave and take charge of all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledgers, cost accounting, revenue recognition and inventory accounting, as well as the financial management of grant funding and reporting to donors. Further to that, you will be responsible for developing and implementing organizational financial reporting guidelines and procedures, as well as improving internal controls.

Reporting/ financial control
  • Prepares quarterly closings
  • Supplies financial (management) information to the Operations Director
  • Prepares quarterly departmental and overall budget realisation
  • Supports the preparation of the budget and longer-term financial forecasts and reports variances; performs analysis on income, personnel and other expenses on a needs basis
  • Coordinates and develops processes for budgetary and financial forecasts
  • Develop and document accounting policies and business processes to strengthen internal controls
  • Strengthens and improves internal quality controls for financial reporting and transactions 
Administration
  • Managing all operations in the accounting department, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledgers, cost accounting, revenue recognition and inventory accounting
  • Processes credit card payments and expense declarations from employees
  • Weekly processing of bank transactions including monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepares supplier payment runs
  • Investigate and resolve supplier queries
  • Sales Ledger cover, including finalising sales invoices, credit notes and proforma invoices and processing payments received
Grant finance administration
  • Coordinates the process for operational and financial closure of grants and projects, in consultation with local accountants
  • Reviews financial reporting in consultation with local accountants
  • Contribute to the coordination and follow-up on audits of Implementing Partners
  • Review payment requests and ensure payments are processed based on grant agreements, payment schedules, and fund availability.
  • Prepare timely, complete and accurate project reporting to donors
  • Support and prepares related audit files according to requirements and deadlines

What you bring

  • Independent and analytical financial professional
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis, controlling or related role
  • Experience in financial controlling, general ledger accounting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong Excel skills and knowledge of financial software (Exact Online preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Good IT skills in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch is not required)
